Our Children Are Worth It.

All Connecticut students deserve every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

The Federal Scholarship Tax Credit encourages private donations to scholarship granting organizations that benefit K–12 students in public, charter and private schools. These are new education resources that will not cost Connecticut taxpayers a penny.

But Connecticut students can only benefit if Governor Lamont opts in before January 1st.

New Resources for Students.
No Cost to Connecticut Taxpayers.

The Federal Scholarship Tax Credit allows individual taxpayers to receive a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit for contributions to nonprofit Scholarship Granting Organizations for tutoring, after-school programs, special education services, tuition assistance, and more.

The program leverages private contributions, not state spending. Connecticut students can only benefit if the Governor opts in. Otherwise, Connecticut residents can still contribute and claim the credit, but their dollars will fund scholarships in other states, leaving Connecticut students behind.

You will have a choice beginning in the 2027 tax year – would you rather send $1,700 to the federal government, or to a scholarship granting organization to help a student succeed.

By opting in, Governor Lamont can keep more of our federal tax dollars here in Connecticut.
